A picture paints a thousand words!
It is wonderful to announce that the children are well and happy - what a smile!
Schools due to partially reopen
Following a Presidential address, children in candidate classes such as Primary 7, Senior 4, Senior 6 and University finalists are due to return to school on October 15th with the other children starting back sometime next year.
In total, 4 children from the Children's Home, 2 children from the community who are supported for their education, and one child who has been resettled will be returning to education while the rest will continue to be homeschooled. Please keep Gideon, Sarah, Angel and Isaac; Noeline and Jalia; and Phiona in your prayers, so that they stay safe and focus on their education.
Homeschooling continues
Teddy and the rest of the staff at the Children's Home are to be congratulated on the amazing education they are providing for the children during lockdown - they are getting a full and varied curriculum, ensuring that all areas are being covered.
As well as the usual subjects, the children have also spent time creating their own vegetable garden; learning how to cook and bake; making fun things with paper; and those who are 12 years and older have just started weekly life skills lessons. The first life skills session was about "inner beauty", a lesson which focuses on working on the inner personality. Its focus is doing what is right, setting principles in life, and building good character.
Appreciating the Staff
We are always grateful for the staff who work at the Children's Home in Uganda. They work tirelessly and with immense dedication, never more so than during lockdown. Unable to take their days off to visit their own families, many of them have been on site since March.
As a token of our thanks, each member of staff was given a bonus to help them and their families through this challenging time. It says a lot about them as they all contributed and bought cake and sodas for the children!
Social Work Continues
The Social Work team has been very busy recently with training; foster family assessments; foster family placements; child resettlement; and follow up visits to children already resettled.
As well as the usual work, they have also been buying clothes for the children.
Your Support Continues to Make A Difference
The Trustees would like to say thank you to all who continue to support this wonderful work that we are privileged to be involved in - together we are making a difference in the lives of these children. Thank you!
Here are some of the comments made by children who once lived at the Children's Home but have now been resettled with family members or foster families.
Dear Ty Cariad Africa,
I send my greetings to you all members in the Ty Cariad family. How are you all? Me I am fine and doing well. I thank you for the great support you have given to me and my family. My family members are all happy and they pray for you to have a good life.
I thank God for aunt Olivia and uncle Emma who have always visited our home. I am happy because they have been there for me.
Some children in my village are looking for school fees but for me you have always paid for me. I feel blessed and happy that I can get educational support that some children are looking for. Thank you so much.
May God bless you all
Your faithfully

Dear Ty Cariad Africa,
Warm greetings to you all in the Ty Cariad family. How are you doing? I hope that everybody is good and safe from the existing pandemic for Covid 19. Back to me and my family we are all doing well. There is a lot of negative consequences due to the Covid 19 pandemic but God has been so merciful to us by providing us with food.
I would like to thank you for the most recent financial support you helped us with. It was helpful because we managed to buy some food like matooke, Sugar, rice, beans and maize flour.
I have set up a garden in the backyard where I planted some tomatoes, pineapples, sugar cane and beans in small sacks. I believe by the end of October I will be in position to harvest some to feed my family.
Concerning education, I study from home on TV. We make TV monthly subscriptions on Star Times to access E-Learning services and lessons aired on several TV channels.
May God keep you safe and provide you with all that you need.
I love you a lot
From
Betty
Dear Ty Cariad Africa,
How are you now days? I hope you are all fine. Back to me am also fine. God has given me life and I thank Him for the protection, life and the good things He gives to us every day.
I thank God for my studies. I passed my Senior six and I am happy that God has enabled me to reach were I am right now. All this has been because of you. I have been able to finish my senior six class and I know that I am going to continue with my studies and become someone in future. I appreciate you for the school fees that you have paid for me since primary up to my secondary.
Honestly there is nothing I can give back to you but I pray for blessings for you all from the living God that created us.
I would like to thank you for the package you sent to my family during the Christmas season.
Because of you I am now somebody. Nowadays if someone is not educated he/she feels out of place in everything they do but on my side I am now very confident. I can also sit in a meeting and present my views because I am educated. This has been made possible because of you my good friends. I would like to send my special appreciations to you and your families for the good work you have done for me.
I am so happy and there is no way I can show my happiness to you apart from writing this letter to you. All I pray, is that God will always hear your prayers and give you all your heart’s desires. On behalf of all my family members I send special thanks to you all. My parents appreciate the great work you do for us.
My prayer for you is that God will always enlarge your territories. I have a lot of words but allow me to end by saying that I love you all. May God bless the works of your hands.
Yours faithfully
Hadijah Molly
Daniel, Betty and Molly, along with many other children who have been resettled or fostered are supported with their school fees. Some of the children have sponsors, but currently, we have more children than sponsors.
