Financial Challenges Alert
Like many individuals and charities worldwide, Ty Cariad Africa is facing significant financial hurdles. π
πΈ Our Income Has Dropped:
While our regular monthly donations remain constant, the extra donations we used to receive have decreased dramatically.
π° Our Costs Have Increased:
Costs in Uganda, like in most places globally, have soared. For instance, our monthly bulk shopping in February last year was around 3 million shillings (Β£634 or $806). Now, it's risen to 4.35 million shillings (Β£925 or $1,169) - a whopping 45% increase!
We are currently in a situation where we need to raise Β£5,000 by the end of May to cover the school fees for the 64 children we support. Additionally, we need to pay the staff salaries.
We urgently need your support to continue our mission in Uganda.
Every little bit helps, so please share our story and consider donating today! π
Celebrate, Serve and Support
For many, this weekend has been a time of celebration. Many have been watching King Charles III's Coronation. During the proceedings, King Charles' role as a servant has been emphasised.
As a charity, we celebrate...
It was 20 years ago since Paul Thomas responded to the call to "do something for the children" in Uganda.
As a charity, we serve...
Our primary objective is to alleviate poverty, sickness, and distress, and to provide access to education for orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. We have gained valuable insight during our two decades of existence and strive to continuously improve to maximise our impact.
As a charity, we support...
We currently support 87 children.
Throughout our years of operation, we have provided assistance to more than 1,200 children. It is an honour to have the opportunity to positively impact any child's life, but with your assistance, we have been able to make a difference in the lives of a significant number of children.
Help us to continue making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children, orphans and communities in Uganda. Help us to raise Β£5,000 by the end of May to cover the school fees for the 64 children, and pay the staff salaries.

We Continue to Focus...
Plans of hope for the future
Since our last newsletter, we are delighted to announce that we have three new Trustees and a Child Sponsorship Coordinator.
We welcome Steve Wilds, Paddy Quinn and Atlanta Serwadda as Trustees, and Atlanta will also be the new Child Sponsorship Coordinator.
It may seem strange that we are adding to our volunteer base at a time when we desperately need funds in order to survive, but we have a duty to press on and plan for the future. Part of a Michelle Obama quote sums it up perfectly...
"Make decisions based on hope and possibility.
Make decisions based on what should happen, not what shouldn't".
We are in search of passionate individuals to occupy the following positions in order to maintain and expand the charitable organisation. A summary of the duties is outlined below.
Fundraising Co-ordinator
Recruiting and managing volunteers to fundraise.
Planning campaigns β online and offline β working with the Project Manager and Child Sponsorship Co-ordinator to ensure that targets are met.
Fundraisers
Individuals who can think creatively and organise fundraising events - working alongside the Fundraising Co-ordinator.
Fundraising idea packs will be available.
